About Me

hats - collecting and cleaning tips

My son has a big obsession with hats. Everywhere that we go, he has to buy a hat. This hat collection has grown to be so large that it takes up every wall in his room and even a few that are suspended from his ceiling. How can you keep hats organized and in good condition? How do you clean hats that have become stinky and dirty? After a lot of trial and error I have found several ways to control the hat collection in his room and ways to keep the hats that he wears most often looking and smelling fresh.

Buy These Vintage-Inspired Apparel Items Before Playing In An Old-Time Golf Tournament

If you're an avid golfer who often looks for tournaments to enter, you might occasionally find fun-focused events that call on the participants to dress in vintage outfits. Men can often pull an outfit together with a pair of plus fours pants fashioned from full-length pants and an argyle sweater, but women may need to do a little shopping to put together the perfect outfit. Whether you decide to shop online or wish to head to your local golf wear store, you'll be able to find a variety of items that you can put together into an outfit that turns heads, but that doesn't get in the way of your golf swing. Here are some suggestions.

Long Skirt

Many women golfers today wear short skirts made of stretchy material with shorts sewn underneath, but this type of garment won't work during a vintage tournament. Instead, look for a long skirt, as this is the type of garment that women wore on the links traditionally. If you have a choice of patterns, aim for plaid — it instantly gives this pieces of golf wear a throwback feel. Try to find a skirt that is loose fitting enough that you can successfully pivot your lower body during your swing. Some companies make retro-inspired golf wear but use modern-day fabrics that will provide flexibility for you.

Blouse And Sweater

The combination of a blouse and sweater will perfectly suit your long skirt and play a key role in giving you an old-school look. In hotter climates, a sleeveless blouse, preferably with a collar, will be ideal. If the weather is cooler, a short-sleeved blouse with a sweater vest worn over it will provide comfort and warmth. Stay away from long-sleeved blouses; they'll limit the range of motion of your shoulders and elbows, which could compromise your swing. Try to find a collared blouse, as this will further complete the vintage look, and the collar will prove to be an ally in protecting your neck from the sun's rays.

Shoes

Many footwear manufacturers make women's golf shoes to mirror the styles of yesterday, so you shouldn't have trouble finding a vintage-looking pair of spiked golf shoes to further bolster your overall appearance. Two-tone saddle shoes were common on the links in the past, and this style of shoe will perfectly suit your skirt, blouse, and sweater combination. Opt for short, white socks that extend just a bit above the tops of the shoes.
