About Me

hats - collecting and cleaning tips

My son has a big obsession with hats. Everywhere that we go, he has to buy a hat. This hat collection has grown to be so large that it takes up every wall in his room and even a few that are suspended from his ceiling. How can you keep hats organized and in good condition? How do you clean hats that have become stinky and dirty? After a lot of trial and error I have found several ways to control the hat collection in his room and ways to keep the hats that he wears most often looking and smelling fresh.

Tips For Choosing New Work Boots That Protect Your Feet And Fit Well

You spend all day in your work boots when you're on the job, so you want boots that fit perfectly and are suitable for the type of work you do. The purchase of work boots is not something to take lightly because the wrong boots can make you feel miserable at the end of the day. Buying high-quality boots is important, so the boots offer the best protection, fit well, and last a long time. Here are some tips for buying new work boots.

Try on New Boots after Work

While it might be more convenient to buy new boots on your day off, buying them at the end of a workday, when your feet are tired, will give you a better fit. Also, wear the same type of socks that you wear to work because thick work socks will make the boots fit differently than if you try them on with thinner socks. When you try on boots, try different brands because sometimes shoes of the same size can fit a little differently when they're made by different manufacturers.

Be Sure the Size Is Right

Have a trained salesperson measure your feet to get the right size. Some people have feet of different sizes, and if you do, you'll need to buy two pairs of boots in two sizes for the most comfort. Proper toe room is important, so your toes aren't squeezed together. The back of the boots should have a snug fit, so they don't slip when you walk. Width is important, too. The sides of your feet shouldn't feel cramped or press against any hard ridges when you walk. Taking your time to get the right size can prevent foot problems since you wear the shoes so many hours each day.

Consider Buying a Second Pair

Once you've worn your new boots at work for several days and are sure you have a perfect fit, you may want to go back and buy an identical second pair. This allows you to switch the boots you wear each day, so the boots can dry thoroughly. Waterproof boots tend to hold onto dampness. Even regular boots can stay damp if your feet sweat a a lot. Damp boots can contribute to fungal infections and make your toes itchy and miserable. Keeping your socks and boots dry helps prevent this condition.

Decide on Style

You want to buy boots that feel the most comfortable on you and that are suited for your job. You might need steel toes, waterproof material, or ankle boots. There are many styles of boots, and they're made from different materials and come in different colors. Take time to break your new boots in once you've chosen the pair you like. You may want to wear them around home a few days before you spend all day in the boots. Steel toes can make boots heavy, and it may take a while until the boots feel comfortable all day.
